Dinner Time?....Si Grazie!

During this winter break is a time of relaxation and to treat yourself to a nice night out. I have come to part with chain- food restaurants for a plethora of reasons. To begin with, most chain restaurants have few healthier eating options and can be ridiculously priced for the quality of food. Next is the atmosphere, when going out for a meal we want to feel relaxed and enjoy the overall experience. I have witnessed that for certain restaurants the service does not quite meet expectations. This does not go for all chain- restaurants however, it has occurred with my dinning experience a little too often for my liking. Here is a great restaurant that was decently priced and the food was amazing. In the first picture is La Tavola Trattoria located at 1458 Hertel Ave (while enjoying a Moscow Mule). This is a smaller Italian restaurant with a warm feeling atmosphere, great service and amazing food. My friends and I very much enjoyed our meal however, one of my friends was not totally satisfied with his meal but did not complain to our waitress but simply expressed his slight concern with our table. Our waitress over herd and brought back a ginormous slice of cake for us to all share as an apology for the meal. Even though my friend was not that upset with the meal, it was a pleasant surprise and made the meal more memorable.

Expo Market Photo Shoot

Here are a few examples of pictures I took of my friends Nick Gamble and Alexis Davis at the Expo Market in downtown Buffalo. Great scenery, great food, great atmosphere! The Expo is a very chill spot to go to with friends for a great meal from fresh Sushi to Pizza and even Asian cuisine. There are also multiple areas to play some vintage video games or a hard game of Foosball while enjoying a cold brew!

Do You Know Your Device?

When talking about internet and device safety the first question you need to ask yourself is, Do I know how to use my own device? Parents want to be able to monitor their children when using the web but, it is still pretty new to them as well. Most parents are in the generation where phones were the size of bricks and in order to use internet you had to use "dial up" which are the most pre-historic forms of media devices. It is key to educate yourself on the ever grown devices like your smart phone in order to truly protect your children. One of the biggest reasons children dabble into sites or apps they should not is because there is no parental supper vision. It is not until later that a parent will find out their child has either done something wrong or worse has had something done to them through the internet and they were just not paying attention. Apple stores along with other name brands hold training classes all the time for different devices, visit some of these sites for extra help. It can never hurt to be knowledgeable in what you and your child are using.

Are you who you say you are?

For the kids that fall into the generation X category or Millennial's, social media is a big part of life. To post or not to post something can be a decision that can cause enormous damage, enormous success and everywhere in between. The responsibility of this power is within the user. As an explorer of not only social media but, the internet as a whole, it is important to be educated in all the positive and negative aspects. A big down side to social media is the use of catfishing. When one googles this term the definnition is, "USinformal
lure (someone) into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona.
People put trust into someone they have never even met, and this can lead to even more problems than a broken heart. Once a bond is made, personal information is shared like accounts, residency etc. Sitting behind a computer screen seems to make most feel invincible. To take risks they would never dream of in person because, why not? If things go wrong one can just hit the unfollow, block or unfriend button and poof. They are gone forever. There is the risk of also meeting this mystery person in the flesh. A teachers daughter decided to meet a boy she had been speaking with for the past few weeks at the Galleria mall. That's smart right? In a public place and her friends sat only tables away to watch and see what happens. Little did the girl know her mother also followed and watched from a distance just to be sure. As she sat waiting, a man about fifty years old sat down and grabbed her hand. To the side he was holding a knife and said do not say a word. The girl was horrified because, "they had so much in common and he knew how to make her feel good". His profile said he was sixteen and they had been speaking, again, for weeks prior to this meeting and if it wasn't for her mother and friends being there, another girl would have went missing. So many people still have the belief, " Ya it happens sometimes, but it won't happen to me I'm too smart for that".Social media is evolving every day to be fair. Making accounts are becoming trickier for people like this man and so that is a positive. As a whole, social media isn't all bad. There have been countless positive actions only accomplished by social media/ the internet. There are even ways to check if someones account isn't real or is a predator which of course is great, but sad that there is always a chance of catfishing. Ones identity is in danger every time a spam pops up or one follows people they truly don't know. Social media is a powerful source for connecting, learning and even entertainment. No one wants to feel they are in danger and so social media awareness is important for the safety of all users.
